Environment is Stronger than Willpower

I remember reading this line in a home study lessons I took by Paramahansa Yogananda.  They were just words. Some part of me hoped it was not true. In fact I would say that a good deal of my life was spent trying to prove this statement wrong.

Every time I went on a vacation to California, after a few days, I would reach a point of clarity about my life and what I wanted to do.   Problem was as soon as I returned home, “home” and “habit” would engulf me back into my old routines and the clarity and the plans I had made while away would be rescheduled, put on hold, lost, and then forgotten.

I just did not get it- How could I be so clear when I was away on a trip, but could not hold on to that when I got home to my comfortable apartment.

It has taken many years for me to finally accept that statement “Environment is stronger than willpower”. I am no longer trying to disprove it.  I see the reality of it and have experienced it many times.

Getting away even for a few days or a few hours into nature can bring me that clarity.

but I don’t know where to start

Hey Evelyn I need you help I want to start eating much cleaner but I don’t know where to start.

That was the start of my day yesterday. What followed was a conversation with my cousins I would never have dreamed of.

I started gently because I really did not know how much they really wanted to know….

Being aware of what you are eating is the first step

My cousin mentioned drinking something called diatomaceous earth to cleans her system of things that she used to eat that the body doesn’t want anymore. And that other day she was served a plate of food with some salad and she accidentally tasted it  and it tasted so good she ate the whole salad.

That brought back memories of when I started eating raw foods and how the taste of greens changed for me.  At a Christmas party a month later I caught myself snacking on the salad instead of the sweets!

So below is the rest of what I shared about how I eat …

Food should be made from simple basic ingredients that you recognize and could cook with yourself

Better to make long term simple changes
that keep you clean,
than to rely on a cleans
Cleans are good
But every day, every meal
You choose to poison yourself
Or heal yourself

No corn syrup
No white sugar

So I would also like to know what do you usually eat?

Please keep in mind I’m vegetarian
Mostly vegan

Yes you are vegetarian that’s why you’re the perfect source

I eat rice, beans, veggies, veggy meats (mock meats made from soy and wheat) Soy MUST be non GMO
Qinoa
Rice noodles
Tofu
Oatmeal
Nuts

No corn oil
I use sunflower,  coconut or olive oil

I make my own nutmilks from almonds, cashews, walnuts

oh yea, watched a video on how to make it. made and it tasted really good.

No white flour

Its more about what I don’t eat
Milk, butter, cheese is once a week
I eat ginger with the milk items
To assist digestion

No soda
No juice drinks
No juices from containers
No name brand boxed cereals.

I filter all water
For drinking and cooking

wonderful
this will help us a lot

The mock meats are optional

The soy and tofu is optional

I don’t eat salad

I eat dark greens like spinach, kale, swiss chard, Broccoli, Bok choy
raw in smoothies or cooked in dishes

Breakfast:
20 to 32 ounces of….
Fruit and green smoothies. I use raisins and dates to sweeten it
2/3 fruit 1/3 greens with 1 to 2 cups water
No yogurt, no nutmilk in the smoothie only fruit and greens. No carrot in the morning smoothie
Or
Master cleanser lemonade…. 40 onces water plus 1 lemon and 1/4 cup maple syrup or agave ( never honey) and as much cayenne pepper as you can stand with it.
Or
Oatmeal nut milk…. 1/4 cup raw oats plus 1/4 cup nuts plus 1/4 cup agave plus pinch sea salt plus 2 cups water. Blend till smooth
You can add vanilla or cinnamon or cocoa powder or nutmeg and cinnamon to flavor it

On waking I’ll drink 4 cups water
Lots of water all day

So breakfast is raw

Lunch and dinner are cooked …

Its grains and veggies
Rice or qinoa or rice noodles ( no pasta) with mixed veggies cooked in ginger with lots of spices of your choice.
Can be stir fry or soup or side dishes eaten together
Can add beans .. Red, black, garbanzo, lentils, what ever you like or have on hand
Or
can be one of the items listed in breakfast

snacks are …. fresh fruit, water, master cleanser lemonade, nutmilk, compote (fruit cooked in water)
the compote is a Russian dish/beverage … you take the fruits that are too spoiled to eat… too mushy, brown, and boil them in water. the liquid is a sweet fruit drink and the fruit mush is like an apple sauce type of thing

side dishes….. lentils with onions and mushrooms

I don’t generally eat sandwiches, less than 2 per week
I am reducing the bread and wheat in my diet

side dish… avocado cacao agave blended taste like chocolate pudding

I do eat eggs but less than a dozen per month, usually eating out or as egg sandwhiches
,
candy is … dark chocolate 70% -85%  cacao (fair trade, no milk, no butter)
or
cocoa powder mixed with agave/honey to make a fudge syrup
or
chocolate covered nuts
or
raisins
or
dates
or
nuts
or any mix of the above
or grapes, frozen grapes are great treats

no candy bars, no chips

I get or make vegan brownies
and vegan donuts

Drinks….  water, tea, ginger tea, turmeric/ginger
sweeten with agave or honey or maple syrup
or
coconut water
I do not’s drink coffee. I will have 1 cup once a month or less

I will have pizza or Mac and cheese once per week or less made with organic milk and organic cheese.

at parties I will eat cake. but otherwise no
I make my own vegan cake
but only a few times a year

other meals…..
burritos… I use tofu or mushrooms or cactus instead of meat. I don’t use the cheese, I use lots of the avocado

I wont eat anything cooked in any meat oils or drippings… so
no beef or chicken stock or fish stock.
no beef or chicken flavor bullion.

not eating meat gives me more energy

recipes are in my notes section on facebook

This is for the women

12472239_454897114700751_8032749668795929010_n
This is for the women who don’t give a fuck.

The women who are first to get naked, howl at the moon and jump into the sea.

The women who drink too much whisky, stay up too late and have sex like they mean it.

The women who know they aren’t sluts because they enjoy sex, but human beings with a healthy sexual appetite.

The women who will ask you for what they need in bed.

This is for the women who seek relentless joy; the ones who know how to laugh with their whole souls.

The women who speak to strangers because they have no fear in their hearts.

The ones who wear “night make up” in the morning or don’t own mascara.

The women who know their worth, who plant their feet and roar in their brilliance.

The women who aren’t afraid to tell a man to get the fuck out of her heart if he doesn’t honour her heart.

This is for the women who rock combat boots with frilly skirts.

The women who swear like truck drivers.

The women who hold the people who harass or wrong them with fierce accountability.

The women who flip gender norms and false limitations the bird and live to run successful companies giving “the man” a run for his name.

The ones who don’t find their success a compliment just because they have a vagina.

Women like Gloria Steinem who, when she was told, “We want a writer, not a woman. Go home,” kept writing anyway.

This is for the women who drink coffee at midnight and wine in the morning, and dare you to question it.

For the women who open doors for men and are confident enough to have doors opened for them.

Who use “no” to be in service for themselves.

Who don’t give a damn about pleasing the world, and do sweetly as they wish.

For the superheroes—the single moms who work three jobs to make it. I salute your resilient, cape-flapping, ambitious selves.

This is for the women who throw down what they love, and don’t waste time following society’s pressures to exist behind a white picket fence.

The women who create wildly, unbalanced, ferociously and in a blur at times.

The women who know how to be busy and know how to plant their feet in the earth and get grounded.

These are the women I want around me.

Curious about ‪the ‪Stock‬ ‪Market‬?

 doji.jpg
I’ve been taking this amazing program, Mastering the Markets, to learn how to trade the stock market,to learn what it’s about, to get to a point of understanding it.
I know how hard you work to earn a living.  Slaving away from 9 to 5 barely getting ahead, and making someone else rich in the process.  It sucks. If you’re here in NYC with me you are getting jammed into a train or bus during rush hour and getting way to close to other folks that are aromatic…
Consider giving up the commute… check out the Mastermind Traders website, and see what you think.  You don’t have to be a stock market wiz with a Bachelors of Finance to trade.  Just regular guys and gals like you and I can do this.  And best yet, you don’t even have to quite your day job!  Well, just not yet…d

Bears and Bulls

In grades school, many decades ago, My best friend Anna was given stock in a company as a birthday gift from her parents. She proudly showed us the stock certificate.

Wow, how cool is that! she can own a piece of a company?

This year, some 40 years later, has been the year to learn the market, to buy stock and trade options.

My parents never did any of these things, there was no on in my family to teach me these things. Mom showed me how to use the mattress to save money, LOL. Other than just knowing the words I had no idea what it was all really about.

I want to thank Peak Potentials for offering the course “Master the Markets” and Carl Johnson for being such an awesome teacher! A teacher I could understand and follow when I was coming from total zero knowledge of the subject.

It’s been like learning a foreign language.  I have a friend who would ask me questions. Earlier this year I did not yet feel comfortable with the language. I would let him talk and I would do most of the listening. Then,  just a few days ago over New Years Eve dinner, I found I felt confident and willing to talk about what I knew and what I did.  It felt really awesome.

Now, I am learning to the manage the emotional part of the game. I can read the candle sticks and the indicators and use the stock screener. But paper and real money are two different games emotionally.

The goal is intraday trading. It’s so exciting! but right now I suck at it.

Turns out I really love Options Trading. I can spend the whole day at it. Like software engineering, where I just wanted to do “one more compile”, I am very happily addicted to trading.

Its a really good place to be, when what you love to do, can earn you some money. I got the love part down, now for some money.

Do what you love… the money will follow
